The Pineapple Express came through this past weekend: that is, a tropical front that dumps as much rain on the city in two days as we normally get in a month swept across the Pacific Northwest. It’s the second time this system has come through this year – and both times I’ve been scheduled to shoot with Melanie and her family. You might remember Melanie as the über-talented stylist of Burke & Hair that I raved about after last year’s gorgeous valley wedding; since then she has become my all time favourite hair artist – the kind that puts up with my chronic cutting and always makes me look fabulous. She’s also gorgeous, funny, oh, and did I mention talented? And to top it all off she has a beautiful family that I got to go and play. The first time we tried to coordinate, the skies opened and we decided it would be better to wait until the Spring when we would have a shot at clear skies and hopefully even some flowers and blossoms to brighten the images, so when a certain wee man’s first birthday was looming we said, “Let’s go for it!” I nearly cried when I saw the weather forecast, but you just can’t reschedule such an important day! Melanie and Matt were great sports and their little guy couldn’t care less about the torrential skies around him – the second we got a break from the rain he was out and running…with a little help of course!
Thank you so much Melanie and Matt for allowing me some time with you all on such a special day, I hope the images will become great reminders of this precious time that goes so fast. And we’ll have to plan the other half of your session for the summer under sunnier skies. Fingers crossed! Vancouver family photographers.
