One of the greatest joys I get out of life is when I get to work on creative endeavours with super talented and amazing artists: when they happen to be one of my best friends the happiness goes up exponentially. My dear friend Jenn is one of the founders and creative designers/crafters behind the amazing Honey Bee Handmade kids up-cycled clothing line, and our own GG is one of their walking poster kids. I love the way the their stretch line is so uber-cozy yet kid-chic all at the same time (check out the unicorn tops with tulle capped sleeves!), as well as the one of a kind designs that come from Jenn’s amazing imagination. I’ve personally handed over a bag of clothes destined for goodwill, only to find they have been transformed into beautifully crafted designer wear for the tweenie set – that long and luscious blue sundress used to be my summer beach skirt!
When Jenn asked me if we could set up a fashion shoot for the line I jumped at the chance. I knew she wanted something unscripted and organic, much like the clothes themselves, so we packed our girls and a large selection of outfits into the car, headed for my favourite field, and spent 40 minutes letting them run wild. These are some my favourite images, not just because my own dear ones (the one with the dark bob) and Jenn’s girls are so gorgeous, but because I think these shots ultimately depict the brand perfectly. For anyone with girls to shop for in the 3-10 age group, Honey Bee Handmade is a must!
