Sometimes the universe sends you serendipitous circumstances that come together to create something awesome. See if you can follow this: last year my sister was attending an MBa course in Germany where she met Elliott; Elliott is from London and engaged to Elysa; Elysa is from Vancouver and they’ve planned the wedding for there; I’m a Vancouver wedding photographer…can you see how this plays out? Now the even better part is that I had already planned a trip to London where Elysa and Elliott currently live so it was a natural fit for me that we shoot some of their pre-wedding photos in the place that they call home. And what an awesome day we had!
Elysa had the brilliant idea to go down to the famous Abbey Road Studios, which as a complete Beatles fanatic I was super excited about. I loved the idea of them leaving their mark on a piece of history, mixing a bit of their story into London’s own, and when we got there someone else had already spray painted a large ‘Mazel Tov’ on the wall. See, serendipity! From there we traveled into Hyde Park where the weather started to turn against us, but I love the way the wind made Elysa’s gorgeous hair fly, adding some lovely movement to the photos. With the cold kicking up and rain threatening to fall, we went in search of a protected place to shoot the final images. With some quick thinking and an even quicker wardrobe change, we created these in a gorgeous Mews around the corner from Elliott’s grandparents house. This is dead in the middle of the city – amazing, right? I love that about London – the hidden treasures and rural ideal that can tuck itself away into the most cosmopolitan of places. So lovely!
Elysa and Elliott, thank you SO much for the beautiful day and the gorgeous lunch afterwards! I had so much fun and loved getting to know both of you; I’m really looking forward to meeting up in Vancouver in a few weeks for part 2 of our adventure. The cherry blossoms are out and the city is waiting.
