A Different Kind of FPS Chess

In Harquebuss, you take charge of a roving battle chassis and its cohort of combat drones, but take care. Your mobile power plant is neither quick nor fierce. If it is destroyed, you will be completely defenseless.

Each of your drones has different capabilities: some are designed for detection and defense, while others are better suited to aggressive assault. If your Harquebuss is incapacitated or if you want to get devious, you can leave it to engage on foot, but great care must be taken: one hit outside your cockpit and you’re done for.

Most games operate on a ‘hit point’ system, but Harquebuss works from the basis of a systems’ status. You may be able to fire your primary weapon, but are your sensors still operative or your motivators? Any single hit will certainly cause damage, but a little damage won’t cost you the match.
